We represent the Sierra Club’s Climate Parents in Prince George’s County.  Sierra Club’s Climate Parents is a diverse national movement of parents and families mobilizing for bold clean energy and climate solutions.  Climate Parents is a campaign to reduce climate change–causing pollution in our schools, increase the climate resilience of our school infrastructure and capacity, and benefit the children, educators, and staff who will be impacted by a changing climate. We are leading that charge in Prince George’s County. 

If achieved these goals will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, make school environments healthier, and in many cases, save money in the long term.

So far our campaign has successfully called for Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) to adopt climate reduction goals and participated in a Focus Workgroup created by the PGCPS Board of Education that wrote a Climate Change Action Plan. The Board later adopted this Climate Change Action Plan. Now we are focused on advocating for the successful implementation of the plan primarily through efforts with PGCPS, but also when needed Prince George’s County government, and the State of Maryland.
